Media Studies/CAMES Talk at the American University of Beirut

It was a pleasure to give a talk at the American University of Beirut this month as part of the Media Studies Brown Bag series, in association with the Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies (CAMES).  My presentation centered on a chapter in my forthcoming manuscript, which discusses how image-based social networks are changing the way the female body is crafted, consumed, and weaponized as part of a dispositif of occupation, focusing on the selfie as a genre within the larger context of the historical sublimation of desire in the service of Israeli racial nationalism.
